When did you first consider buying a cargo bike, and why?
I was using a trailer to pull the young one along. The poor lad looked so bored and disinterested when he was in it. He was also behind me out of sight so I couldn’t keep an eye on him and crucially given the appalling standards of driving I was worried for his safety.
Why Bullitt?
They just looked cool! They have a left field almost punk attitude. They Dutch style ones are a bit “yummy mummy” and what Mary Poppins would use if she took here charges out by bike.
I like the versatility of the Bullitt, it’s not just for ferrying his little lordship around. Other brands you get a box on the front and that’s it. With the Bullitt you can build it to suit, in a colour you want
How would you rate your Bullitt out of 5 on the following:
- Sheer Enjoyment [5]
- Drive my car less [5]
- Save Money [5]
- Save Time [5]
- Save the planet [5]
When was the last time you rode your bullitt?
Today, I picked the little one up from nursery, feeling very smug as I pedalled past all the drives stuck in the roadworks!
Have you always cycled?
Yes ever since I was young. MTB, Road, Commuting bit of everything really
What would you superpower be as a cyclist?
Indestructible man. When I hit the deck the ground screams
You can change one thing. What would it be?
I would like to see more parents and kids cycling to school. Do you need that 2ton SUV for a two mile round trip?
What makes you unhappy?
The world in general at the minute
How do you relax?
By going to work!
What single thing would improve the quality of your cycling experience?
Better infrastructure and a bit more consideration from all road/cycle way users. Too many people are trapped in their own little bubble unwilling or unable to see how their actions affect others.
Has the canopy been a good addition?
Planning to use the Bullitt all year round, and with the young un already starting to feel the cold and wet (kept telling him it only goes through t’skin but that wasn’t working), the canopy seemed like a good, but pricy, buy.
Luckily, Alan offered PayPal pay in three which made the decision at bit easier. Going through the process was incredibly easy with no need to fill in reams of virtual application forms, in fact the only extra step I had to take over and above a normal PayPal purchase was to verify my debit card. Other than that it was a pretty painless process.
With the usual exemplary service from Alan the canopy arrived a day or two after I ordered it (luckily you don’t have to wait until you’ve paid for it all!). All in all an easy and painless process (unlike trying to turn the young un into a miserable Yorkshireman).
